What is Kyoto Dance Exchange（KDE）?

2007年に京都芸術センターで行われたワークショップ「Liz Lerman Dance Exchange（リズ・ラーマンダンスイクスチェンジ）」に影響を受け、２００８年に結成したダンスカンパニーである。
現在、幼児〜７０代のメンバーが在籍し、「ダンス」に相応しい体形・年齢・経歴・生活等に捉われない、本来の「踊る」行為から生まれる感情や意思の伝達、表現、交流を目的とするコミュニティダンスを軸に活動している。

Kyoto Dance Exchange (KDE) was established in 2008 by a few founding members who were inspired after attending a Liz Lerman Dance Exchange workshop held at the Kyoto Art Center in 2007. Currently, the company members’ ages range from being in their 20s to 70s, and most do not have any formal dance training or education, nor what is considered to be a typical dancer’s body. Frequent comments made by audience members or workshop participants about KDE are: “I don’t know what it is, but it’s a lot of fun!”; “I don’t know if this is really a dance, but I was definitely dancing!”; “It was physically challenging, 120%!”
